Our Mount Pleasant Neighbors facetime BrookeCarter Kitchell  Lives in: Mount Pleasant. From: Birmingham, Alabama. Education/experience: A degree in business association with a minor in marketing from Mississippi State University. #HailState! Employment: I am chief operating officer of Kitchell Enterprises where I spend my day making sure our family stays afloat. I have three kids, two dogs and a husband that seem to need me for most everything! Interests/hobbies: I really love running. I started a running group a few years back, and through this group, my love for running is even stronger. It has connected me with ladies that I would have never met otherwise. We are women who are different in so many ways yet connected by running. Your New Year’s resolution:  1. The typical: do my best to eat clean and make better decisions regarding my health and fitness, and then 2. Try to be more present in life with my family and try to live each day with a grateful heart.  Describe your “perfect” weekend: A weekend away with the family where I get to sleep in, take a nap and have an endless supply of fresh fruit, yummy salads and French fries. Favorite quote:  “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” Imagine if we all lived by this simple statement. BradPitner Lives in: Huger. From: Fort Collins, Colorado. Education/experience:  14 years running the Coastal Cupboard. Employment: The Coastal Cupboard. Interests/hobbies: I love to grill/BBQ on my Big Green Egg and entertain friends and family. I love fly fishing, being outdoors and oddly enough, I love to work where I work.  Your New Year’s resolution:  Learn how to ride/train horses.  Describe your “perfect” weekend:   Do some yard work, fire up the Big Green Egg, have friends over, light a bonfire, eat great food, listen to great music and have great conversation. Favorite quote: “In the eyes of God, greatness is not measured by where we stand, but by where we kneel.” AnnElizabethThomas Lives in: Mount Pleasant. From: Pittsford, New York. Education/experience: Retired after a fulfilling career in marketing and advertising, both private and corporate. That being said, my eyes are always open to potential new business ventures. Interests/hobbies: Photography, reading, gardening, cooking, knitting, Pilates, walking, art in both oil and acrylic paint and pastels, new adventures with most recently kayaking. Member of Gibbs Women’s Council and Charleston Library Society. Your New Year’s resolution: Continuing a journey to find my value and heal, to build the life only I can design for myself and be of service. Describe your “perfect” weekend:   Don’t wait for the weekend to live the life that makes you happy. Fill every day with things that enrich you and those around you. “Variety is the spice of life.” Favorite quote:  “Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.” — Og Mandino. Will Botts Lives in: Mount Pleasant. From: Sullivan’s Island. Education/experience: Wando, Clemson with bachelor’s in civil engineering, minor in environmental engineering. Employment: ESP Associates, Inc. (professional engineer — five years of local construction and geotechnical engineering experience). Interests/hobbies: Surfing, tennis, soccer, billiards, running, hiking, painting. Your New Year’s resolution: Not a big fan of doing these. :) However, my resolution would be to drop a few pounds and improve my running time and mileage. Describe your “perfect” weekend:  Morning coffee downtown at a coffee shop (Kudu is my favorite) or at a local co-op (The Co-Op on Sullivan’s is my favorite), catch some rays at the beach (Sullivan’s is my favorite), grab some beers from Revelry Brewery or other local brewery, sunset at Pitt Street Bridge or the Ravenel Bridge and then dinner and drinks downtown. And if there’s time, there are tons of weekly local events especially at one of the plantations (such as Magnolia, Boone Hall, etc.). Favorite quote:  “That which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny. Be it through intention or ignorance, our successes and our failures have been brought on by none other than ourselves.”  — Gareth Stein (“Art of Racing in the Rain” — GREAT BOOK).
