About the Cover
Icould write an entire memoir on the march/
April cover; it truly went through what our publisher, Bill, calls
“the evolution of ideas.” Since this is our Best of Mount Pleasant
edition, we all put our heads together about how we could represent
the best that Mount Pleasant has to offer on the face of our magazine.
Thanks to your many votes, we were able to capture Dr. Amy
Warner of Lowcountry OB/GYN, who won for best OB/GYN in
Mount Pleasant, as well as TJ Phillips of Clear Channel Communications and
WEZL, who won for best radio personality. They are joined by Jim Stalker, owner
of Vickery’s on Shem Creek, which received your votes for the best outdoor
dining and seemed like a lovely place to capture a sunset. In fact, if you look
closely, another Best of Mount Pleasant winner appears in this photo – Shem
Creek, which was voted the best place to put your paddleboard in the water.
As always, my gratitude goes out to our willing photo subjects, TJ, Amy and
Jim, as well as our talented photographer, Andy Hagedon of SmART Image, and
my team members, Brandon and Brian.
Turn to page 17 for our special section on the winners of the Best of Mount
Pleasant, 2013, and enjoy the rest of the issue; it’s chock-full of fun about the
2013 Cooper River Bridge Run, baseball and other spring happenings.
