Friends enjoying a meal at a Mount Pleasant restaurant.

Whether looking to simplify dinners with pre-prepared meals, searching for a taste of the Mediterranean or taking the family out for a sweet treat, life in Mount Pleasant and the surrounding East Cooper area just got a whole lot tastier with these new and noteworthy establishments.

BUCK’S DELI

Buck’s Deli

Like many busy families, Christian and Gail Buck found preparing home-cooked meals every night to be challenging. Realizing that other families in the Daniel Island community were struggling with the same predicament, they developed a concept for a deli and market offering elevated fare that includes a variety of sandwiches and salads, prepared foods, organic groceries and last-minute options for entertaining guests. Having designed the space and secured a fantastic executive chef and staff, the couple named the shop “Buck’s” so that customers would know it is owned by a local family who genuinely cares about the community.

“Our wide array of cuisine with our delicious ready-to- eat meals is made in-house daily,” Christian said. “With fresh produce and plenty of grab-and-go options, we’re here to make life a little easier. Whether you’re busy or just want a night off from cooking, our meals are designed to stimulate your appetite without the hassle. Enjoy the perfect blend of nutrition and taste, including allergen-friendly entrees the whole family will love. Come visit us today for quick service.”

TAZIKI’S MEDITERRANEAN CAFE

In 1997, Keith Richards and his wife Amy took a vacation to Greece that would change the course of their lives. Amongst the cobblestone streets, surrounded by history and beauty, they discovered small-table Mediterranean cafes, places where everyone in the community gathered to connect around flavorful meals and to celebrate the joy of everyday life. The experience sparked inspiration for opening Taziki.

“Prioritizing fresh, minimally-processed ingredients and making food to order are core principles for us,” Richards said. “We are passionate about offering the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean in an approachable way. Our dishes let the quality of wholesome components like olive oil, herbs and seasonal produce shine through without unnecessary complexity. This is all made possible with our trusted partners, producers and makers.”

Richards added, “We also strive to give back to the community in meaningful ways. One way we do this is by partnering with the Giving Kitchen, a food service community that meets crises with compassion and care. Their mission is to provide emergency assistance to food service workers through financial support and a stability network of community resources.”

JUST LOVE COFFEE

For Gray and Kathryn Ives, owners of Just Love Coffee Cafe, “Coffee isn’t just a drink, it’s a moment of peace, connection or energy when you need it most.” The cafe also gives the Ives’s the opportunity to support local nonprofit organizations. For every bag they sell of the African Skies blend, they donate $4 to East Cooper Meals on Wheels.

For patrons, Just Love offers more than warm coffee, cozy vibes and free Wi-Fi. All-day breakfast and lunch options include fresh avocado toast, a spinach feta omelet, waffles, the famous Nanna’s cinnamon rolls, a hearty breakfast platter with scrambled eggs and your choice of bacon or sausage, a breakfast burrito with cheesy eggs, sausage, onions, peppers, sour cream and salsa in a flour tortilla or the breakfast sandwich with cheesy eggs on a bagel, ciabatta roll or croissant with a choice of bacon or sausage. For lunch, choose from the chicken ciabatta, Italian caprese, chicken salad croissant, club sandwich, grilled cheese, chicken wrap, BLT or chicken quesadilla.

“We keep it simple with tasty eats, amazing drinks and plenty of love to go around,” Kathryn said. “Whether you’re here for a latte, waffle or just good vibes, we’ve got you covered. Eat. Drink. Love. That’s our thing!”

She added, “We are thankful to this amazing community for all the love and support in making this place something special together.”

To order ahead, visit justlovecoffeecafe.com or download the Just Love Coffee app and get exclusive perks, rewards and surprises. For the cafe experience, pop by 1909 Highway 17 North.
