Novant Health is making quite a splash around town, but what do we know about this new hospital system? According to their website novanthealth.org, Novant is “a super-regional, not-for-profit, academic medical center-backed health system relentlessly pursuing remarkable care for our communities.”
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Novant Health focuses largely on the communities they serve, often providing care to those who are traditionally underserved. In South Carolina and North Carolina combined, they have over 19 hospitals, 900 outpatient locations and 750 physician clinics, making care more accessible than ever.
Novant is “nationally recognized for our unwavering commitment to safety and the highest quality care, and we serve as a catalyst for health care transformation through clinical trials, leading-edge research, innovative care delivery models and robust virtual care networks.” Having access to this level of care in Mount Pleasant is truly changing the patient’s experience.
Speaking of change, earlier this year, Novant broke ground on what will be a 40,000-square-foot women’s health center immediately adjacent to East Cooper Medical Center. This facility will comprehensively house OB/GYN care, mammography, breast diagnostics, surgery and urogynecology for every stage of womanhood. This expansive facility is set to open in summer 2026 and will be a welcome addition to our growing community of families.
While we are excited to see changes unfold with the new women’s center, we are equally thrilled that doctors we have grown to know and respect are still providing top-notch care through Novant Health. Names like Dr. Toya Pound, Dr. Natalie Gregory, Dr. William Estes and Dr. Brodie McKoy are just a few among the countless physicians and care providers that we will continue to see.
