Rustic Romance: Back Barn at Bedaw Farms

Back Barn at Bedaw Farms in Awendaw, SC.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that marries the charm of nature with just the right touch of elegance, look no further than the Back Barn at Bedaw Farms. Located 30 minutes outside of Charleston in the neighboring town of Awendaw, this 40-acre working farm offers a picturesque spot for couples who want something different, more relaxed and personal and just downright stunning.

The Back Barn, situated at the heart of the property, embodies the perfect mix of rustic Southern beauty and modern design. Whether you’re hosting an intimate ceremony with just a few loved ones or throwing a full-blown bash, the barn can accommodate up to 175 guests.

The newly-renovated grain silo has become an exciting, surprise feature of the venue that provides couples with a touch of something different. It’s ideal for more laid-back events like a rehearsal dinner or cocktail hour. The rustic but industrial aesthetic blends well with the rural feel of the farm, offering a unique, jaw-dropping setting that your guests won’t forget.

What makes this event space even more unique is that it’s an actual working farm. Beyond its visual appeal, it has a certain charm that you can’t get from any other venue. With horse stables and a goat farm, there’s always something cute and lively going on around you. And for something a little quirky (and fun), Back Barn has introduced goat yoga — a new monthly event coming this fall.

One of the best things about Back Barn at Bedaw Farms is how much the team is willing to work with you. They supply a list of trusted vendors, but if you have other people in mind for your flowers, cake or music, they’re open to that as well. It’s all about making sure your special day unfolds just the way you imagined.

For couples wanting more space, the property’s farmhouse is available to rent. This renovated, cozy home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and even a pool. It’s perfect for the bridal party or family to relax in, either as a peaceful retreat before the wedding or a place to unwind after all the festivities.

“Bedaw Farms means so much to me and my family, and I’m thrilled to share the Back Barn as a venue where others can create their own memories. Located in the heart of the Lowcountry, it’s always been our escape: where we’ve laughed, worked and celebrated together, and now I get to offer the same sense of joy to others,” said Cokie Cox, owner of Bedaw Farms. “Whether it’s a wedding, a philanthropic event or a birthday celebration, I hope the Back Barn can be a place where guests can truly enjoy the moments that matter most.”

Whether you’re dreaming of a warm, sun-soaked spring ceremony or a cozy winter wedding, Back Barn at Bedaw Farms is available year-round. The venue is booking through 2025, so no matter when you’re planning to say, “I do,” there’s ample flexibility to make your vision a reality.
