This sweet 2-year-old girl arrived at the Charleston Animal Society several weeks ago following a difficult turn in her life. Her previous owner was evicted and could no longer care for her, so now this brave pup must navigate the confusing and unfamiliar world of rehoming.
Like many dogs adjusting to big changes, FernGully was a little unsure at first. But with time, patience and support from a loving team, she’s really come into her own. She’s incredibly affectionate and loves being around her people. Although she still takes a moment to warm up to strangers, her gentle, loving personality shines through more and more every day.
FernGully is a smart girl who already knows her basic commands and continues to show a willingness to learn (especially when treats or belly rubs are involved). As the team has gotten to know FernGully better, they believe she would thrive best in an active home that can give her plenty of exercise, noting that early challenges like jumping and leash reactivity have improved significantly since she transitioned to an open yard environment.
FernGully may have had a rough start, but she’s more than ready for a fresh beginning with someone willing to give her the love that she deserves. If you can’t adopt but still want to help, ask about the Charleston Animal Society’s “Paws Around Town” program, where you can take a dog out for a day or overnight to give them a break from the stresses of kennel life.
