Our Charleston Neighbors f cetime Jenny Broe  Lives in: West Ashley Job: Chief Mad Scientist at Dance Lab What have you been doing since the shutdown began? Working harder than ever to shift my physical brick-and-mortar business to a sustainable online platform. It has been an extremely humbling experience. What are you most looking forward to when things get back to normal? Feeling the energy of other people in a room. Everything feels so void teaching to the abyss — online. There is nothing like feeling the high vibrations of a room full of humans moving to music. Oh, and seeing my dad. I miss him so much! Has this COVID-19 crisis changed you in any way? It changes me constantly. I find myself needing lots of time away from my screens. I am outside way more than ever (yay, for vitamin D and birds!), and I’m spending time talking to friends on the phone that I never found the time to catch up with before. Joy Watson Lives in: West Ashley Job: Tour Guide What have you been doing since the shutdown began? Worrying, watching lots of TV, going for walks, trying to keep my hands busy by remaking a rag rug and making a table. What are you most looking forward to when things get back to normal? Interacting with the guests on my tours and eating in restaurants. Has this COVID-19 crisis changed you in any way? Absolutely, I am more appreciative of all that I have — a great job, wonderful boss, loving fiancé, great friends and I live in this amazing city! Angela Klick Lives in: Mount Pleasant Job: Champion of Confidence, Founder of She Tris Sprint Triathlon What have you been doing since the shutdown began? Homeschooling three kids under 8 and figuring out ways to keep them motivated to get their work done. I am a race director of triathlons and making the safest decisions for the participants has been a top priority. What are you most looking forward to when things get back to normal? I love being surrounded by lots of like-minded people and beginners in the sport of triathlon. I miss leading group bike rides and exercising with my circle of friends. I also can’t wait to get back to swimming. Has this COVID-19 crisis changed you in any way? It forced me to slow my pace with running from activity to activity all day long. I thrive on an active lifestyle and when it came to a screeching halt, it jarred my mental state and I had a really tough time adjusting. Tim Bryan White Lives in: Summerville Job: Station Manager for Alaska Airlines What have you been doing since the shutdown began? Since the shutdown, I’m still working, but mainly from home — mostly to avoid any exposure to the virus. I go to the airport only when our flight is operating. What are you most looking forward to when things get back to normal? I’m looking forward to mostly just being around my family and fellowships with my close friends. Has this COVID-19 crisis changed you in any way? If anything, the crisis has made my faith in God stronger and helped me not to live in fear. Also, I think I’ve become a better cook in the kitchen!
