My mother has given her life to raise her children to the best of her abilities, and, in doing that, she cultivated

four happy, self-actualized and grateful people. I owe all that I have to her – not only the blessing of security, but my

ability to love extensively and my relationship with God, not to mention my passion for cooking. Now that I have

delved into that hobby, I realize cooking and cleaning three meals a day is a full-time job, and doing it for four hun-

gry kids is a career.

When my dad left our family, there was potential for my mother to fall apart and lose sight of who she is, but,

because she always had a grip on her priorities and values, she remained a strong, inspiring woman. I love her and she

deserves to be appreciated by everyone.
