Picking the Right camP foR YouR kids
a
Before enrolling your children, always ask for references so you can speak
to parents whose children have gone through the camp before.
a
Take a close look at the structure in which the camp takes place. Is
it age appropriate? Do children have easy access to the outside or is the
structure locked?
a
What is the instructor-to-camper ratio? Will your child be properly
looked after?
a
What is the goal of the camp? Is it merely sum-
mer babysitting? Know what you are paying for
ahead of time.
a
What are the camp’s refund and cancellation
policies?
a
Is the camp staff certified in CPR, the Red Cross or
Darkness to Light?
a
Be clear on how long the camp session lasts and
what hours of the day it will be in session.
a
Find out if lunch or snacks are provided.
a
Always send your child with his or her own water
bottle.
a
It is a good idea for your
children to apply sun block every
morning.
a
Appropriate clothing is impor-
tant. Children attending camps
that involve water need a change
of clothes.
a
Foot attire is extremely im-
portant. Make sure your child is
wearing appropriate shoes for the
activity that day.
a
If your child has any allergies,
let the director and camp staff
know about them.
