Amanda Rosen, owner of Butterfly Consignment in the Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant, can be described as “the real deal.” Does she love fashion? The answer is a resounding yes. But that isn’t the only reason she decided to open a high-end consignment clothing store.
She wanted to help women stretch their dollars, and she also liked the idea of reusing beautiful clothes to help reduce our carbon footprint.
“Women spend a lot of money on high-quality brand fashion, for both casual and evening clothing, purses and shoes, often only wearing them for one season,” Rosen said. “Consignment offers the opportunity for the items to be worn beautifully for a second season. Why spend $600 on a high-end cocktail dress at a full-price retail store for one evening when we offer the same dresses and evening gowns for a third of the price or less?”
And high-end is exactly what they are at Butterfly Consignment, with items ranging from J. Crew, Banana Republic and Madewell all the way up to Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes.
“Everything is in style, in fashion and in season,” Rosen said.
She takes pride in the fact that she believes in helping the customer find the right clothes. The website describes Butterfly as a venue where the truth is told: “Yes, it makes you look fabulous” or “No, we’d better find something else.”
Rosen, who described herself as “just a girl from England,” has traveled the globe and has been fortunate enough to experience the beautiful ethnic styles, patterns, colors and fabrics of places like Denmark, Greece, Southeast Asia, Italy, Turkey and more. She brings her experiences to her shop in Mount Pleasant. A true lover of all things fashion, her vision for Butterfly Consignment remains as authentic as she is – it’s high-end fashion where “the penny can be stretched a very long way indeed.”
