It started with an idea from a friend. Now, two years later, local dentist Dr. Cason Hund not only looks after people’s teeth, he provides them with a growing line of golf clothing as a partner in Harlestons Performance Clothing and Apparel.
“Our quality, fit, function and comfort are like getting a hole in one,” said Dr. Hund, a practitioner at Wando Family Dentistry, who co-launched Harlestons in April 2020. “Everything is designed in Charleston, where the weather and active lifestyle are top of the mind.”
The vision for Harlestons came from Hund’s business partner, Weston Mallon. Having worked in sales, Mallon one day began thinking, “where’s the classy polo with a modern fit, without all the logos on the chest?”
Hund agreed, and together, with the help of family and friends, they created an athleisure and lifestyle clothing line that features water-resistant shorts, quarter-zips, performance zips and the all-new drop-cut hoodie.
“Harlestons is known for their ‘perfect fit polo,’” said Dr. Hund.

As for the name, Mallon and Dr. Hund were inspired by Charleston’s history — namely Harleston Green, America’s first golf club, founded in 1786.
“It was only fitting that we paid homage to the rich history of Charleston and the color palette that is woven in the fabric of our historical architecture,” Dr. Hund remarked.
As for his dental practice, Dr. Hund said he plans to take care of people’s teeth for a long time to come.
“Dentistry is my first love,” he insisted. “But venturing out into the unknown is thrilling, even nerve-racking at times, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.”
