What is it like working with the Mount Pleasant community?
I grew up on James Island and have worked and lived in Mount Pleasant since 2000. Though I have seen Mount Pleasant grow from a sleepy fishing village to the sophisticated town it is today, the passion to make our community great persists. The influx of individuals from across the country only makes our community stronger. New people bring new ideas, which spark conversations… conversations bring about innovation.
What does SouthState do differently?
SouthState is a large regional bank that offers a customer almost any product: wealth management, investor services, private banking, commercial banking, treasury management services, consumer banking and mortgages. What separates us is the sense of urgency and the freedom that we have. We can advocate on behalf of clients. Service is highly personalized.
What is the most rewarding part?
I believe in giving back. This is why I have served on numerous community service boards. I currently serve on the Trident Technical College Foundation Board. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone better their life.
What business do you admire?
With the pandemic not far in the rearview mirror, I most admire those frontline workers that kept coming to work, even though it meant that they might become sick. I am speaking of our health care workers, police, firemen, EMS and food service workers — anyone who put themselves at risk for others.
