A new home. A fresh start. A new adventure. That’s where the idea for The Happy Southerner originated. In her effort to pull up her bootstraps and find joy and fulfillment in her new life, Jackie Rice came up with a vision.
Rice ventured out, on her own, in a less than familiar town, to start a business. A gift boutique to be exact. But not just any boutique; one that’s primary goal is to bring joy to everyone who walks through its doors. Her vision is clear.
From the colors of the walls, to each hand-curated item on the shelves, The Happy Southerner was designed for one purpose: to make people happy. Having recognized the difficulty of not only starting a business, but being a woman in the small business world, Rice knew the task could be daunting. Through perseverance and a joyful disposition, Rice’s dream became a reality.
“Always follow your dreams. Always follow your heart. You have one life to live,” is the motto Rice lives by.
Located on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard, next to Skatell’s Jewelers, The Happy Southerner is the place to go for all things “gifts.” You can pop in to snag a gift for a co-worker or friend, even your husband and children. And while you’re at it, maybe something for yourself!
Having just recently opened its doors, Rice’s shop has already attracted quite a following. Shoppers especially admire the Charleston-specific line of gifts: everything from graphic tees to koozies, ornaments and coffee mugs. Without a doubt, this is Mount Pleasant’s newest one-stop shop for gifting!
