Mount Pleasant Magazine’s 9th annual Best of Mount Pleasant Party was an experience unlike any of our events before. On Sept. 19, an evening of celebration acknowledging the best businesses and professionals that Mount Pleasant has to offer, kicked off on the Hanger Bay of the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point. From the town’s local vendors and businesses to the wonderful people who make our community whole, what better way to recognize all that make Mount Pleasant special than at our annual Best Of Party.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed by a glamorous red carpet entrance, complete with professional photographers capturing them and their entourage. The party was nothing short of spectacular, from entertainment to a smorgasbord of food options which included Lowcountry Boil, oysters, charcuterie and other finger food delectables. Dish & Design brought all the attention to the incredible food with a stunning “Best of 2024” light display that elicited several guests’ compliments throughout the evening. Their delicious hors d’oeuvres were the perfect bite-sized treats, keeping attendees and foodies satisfied all night. Hamby Catering also wowed the crowd with their addictive deviled eggs and handmade cucumber and chicken salad sandwiches, adding a touch of elegance to the party’s culinary offerings.
And what would a party be without some tunes? The music definitely provided the heartbeat of the party, thanks to the night’s dynamic duo of violinist Christie Bates and Seth Brown aka DJ B-Hustle. Together, they caused every guest to gravitate to just one place — the dance floor. Seriously, there wasn’t a single moment throughout the night that the dance floor wasn’t occupied. The unique blend of a live violin with classic DJ hits kept the energy high, with everyone joining in the merriment.
As the night went on, sweet tooths developed, and Beanie Bakes and 26 Divine satisfied those confectionary cravings. Beanie Bakes exhibited their creativity around the venue by displaying their custom “Best of Party” cookies, while 26 Divine provided a delightful assortment of homemade cookies and desserts that guests devoured.
Carolina Cocktails, known for their premium beverage service, truly lived up to their reputation. Their handcrafted cocktails kept the party lively well into the night. Meanwhile, with Rappahannock Oyster Bar set up outside on the deck, guests were not only able to enjoy fresh oysters but also a stunning sunset, a perfect pairing. And what is a Charleston event without a taste of the Lowcountry? Port of Call offered an authentic Lowcountry boil, featuring locally-sourced ingredients and flavors that reminded everyone that we might just have the best food in the Lowcountry — at least we have a reason to believe so!
The party didn’t stop with food and drinks. Lumber Jill’s added another element of excitement with their axe-throwing setup, encouraging some friendly competition and plenty of cheering as guests waited to see who would hit the bullseye. Along with some axe-throwing fun, another popular activity of the night was the golf putting competition for a chance to win $25,000. While no one walked away with the grand prize, the competition brought everyone together for an entertaining, shared experience that greatly depicted the closeness of the Mount Pleasant community.
Aside from all the fun, the Best of Mount Pleasant Party was more than just a celebration of local businesses; it was a reminder of the strong sense of community that makes Mount Pleasant a special place to live, work and play. With laughter, dancing and shared moments, this event reminded every attendee that it’s the amazing people that truly make this town what it is. A special thanks to our vendors for making this year’s party the best one to date!
