Richmond, Virginia, native Chris Anderson, broker-in-charge at King & Society Real Estate, has been a broker for 20 years. Anderson, a graduate of the University of Virginia who has a master’s from the University of Richmond, has previously worked at companies such as Dunes Properties, Place Real Estate and I’On Realty.
Although Anderson is a broker, he is still able to sell properties as a real estate agent. He has been investing in real estate since the early 1990s. Around that time, Anderson was approached by his friend Vince Graham to start managing sales for a new development in Mount Pleasant called I’On. He agreed and onboarded in 1997, going from investing in homes to selling and managing them.
“The advice I would give to new agents is, we are seeing a fury of changes and challenges in the industry,” Anderson shared. “Hard work, doing the right things for your clients and continuing to develop relationships and connections in the marketplace will make you successful.”
Mount Pleasant is one of the most expensive places to purchase a home in the Charleston area. It is a sought-after destination based on its schools, location, natural beauty and safety.
“I think people will always be drawn here and we see no signs of that slowing down,” Anderson said.
While people have been moving to the area in droves, Anderson projects that we will soon see a slowdown of sales in the Mount Pleasant area due to a lack of inventory and the availability of land. This does not apply to downtown. He is currently representing two properties for sale that are located downtown: a historic home and a condominium.
When Anderson is not at his desk answering calls or showing a property, you can find him enjoying a game of golf, hiking, traveling or eating at some of the best restaurants here in Charleston. In a past life, back in the 80’s and 90’s, Anderson managed and ran concerts, festivals and sponsorship marketing programs for Fortune 500 events.
