Since opening its doors on May 22, 2024, Magnolia Spa has quickly become a cherished retreat in Mount Pleasant. Founded by Elizabeth and Joe Engelhart and their daughter April Smith, the spa is more than just a business — it’s a family dream brought to life.
The inspiration for Magnolia Spa blossomed from deeply personal experiences. After a car accident in 2004, Elizabeth found massage therapy transformative, not just physically but emotionally. Meanwhile, April, a psychology graduate with a passion for helping others, discovered the restorative power of massage on her honeymoon in Kauai. Together, they envisioned creating a sanctuary where clients could find the same healing and peace they experienced.
The name Magnolia Spa holds special meaning for the family. Inspired by the magnolia flower, which symbolizes strength, perseverance and beauty, they saw these qualities as central to their mission. The spa’s name reflects their hope to nurture these traits in every client who walks through their doors, helping them find resilience and renewal in both body and mind.
Every detail at Magnolia Spa reflects this vision. From the modern yet tranquil décor, enhanced by soft lighting and the scent of fresh flowers, to the personalized care offered by every team member, the spa exudes a welcoming, restorative energy. The family’s commitment to holistic wellness extends to collaborating with local artisans for sustainable, natural products.
Being recognized as one of Mount Pleasant’s best is a profound honor for the family. “This community is our home,” said Elizabeth. “We’re grateful to be trusted with our clients’ wellness journeys, and this recognition inspires us to continue providing the highest level of care.”
At Magnolia Spa, it’s about more than pampering — it’s about connection, healing and creating a space where life’s chaos fades into calm.
