Palmetto Christian Academy: Shaping Lives with Faith

Posted by MPM Leave a Comment

Palmetto Christian Academy. 2025 Best of Mount Pleasant.

The following Q&A comes from a chat with Palmetto Christian Academy student Sophia Ralph:

Can you share what grade you’re in and how long you’ve been at Palmetto Christian Academy? What initially brought your family to PCA?

I am currently in the 11th grade and have been a student at Palmetto Christian Academy (PCA) for 13 years. My family was drawn to PCA because of its strong academic reputation and its commitment to fostering a Christ-centered learning environment.

PCA is known for its academic excellence. How have your teachers or classes challenged or inspired you?

My teachers have consistently challenged me to think critically and strive for excellence. They have a remarkable ability to make even the most complex subjects engaging and relevant. I have particularly enjoyed my AP environmental science class, where I explored the world and how we can better care for our planet.

What’s one class, project or experience at PCA that stands out as particularly impactful or memorable for you?

One of the most impactful experiences I’ve had at PCA was attending college tours with my peers just a few weeks ago. Choosing a college can be daunting, but the PCA community has made the decision much easier for me. Through my college counselor, Mrs. Faile, I have had productive and meaningful conversations about my future. The college tours allowed me to gain a real insight into various state institutions and explore what I want my college experience to look like.

PCA is deeply rooted in faith. How has the Christ-centered education here influenced your personal growth or faith journey?

The Christ-centered education at PCA has had a profound impact on my faith journey. Weekly chapel services, Bible classes and opportunities for prayer and reflection have helped me grow closer to God and develop a stronger understanding of his word. We also have monthly small groups, and I have had the same leader and group since 8th grade. My small group now meets outside of school, and the time that PCA has set aside for these groups has helped me build a beautiful and strong community.

PCA often feels like a family to its students and parents. How have you experienced this sense of community during your time here?

PCA truly feels like a family. The teachers and staff genuinely care about each student, and the sense of community is palpable. I have formed lifelong friendships with my classmates, knowing I can always count on their support. I believe that the relationships I have built with both students and teachers will last long after high school.

The school emphasizes partnership with families. How have your teachers or administrators gone above and beyond to support you?

My teachers and administrators have gone above and beyond to support me academically, socially and spiritually. They have always been available to answer questions, offer guidance and encourage me to reach my full potential. For example, during my sophomore year, I was taking honors chemistry, and we had just learned a particularly challenging unit. Not only did my teacher assist me before and after school throughout the week leading up to the test, but she also provided extensive opportunities to practice and made herself very accessible to me after school.

If you could give advice to a younger student or someone considering PCA, what would you tell them about this school?

To younger students or anyone considering PCA, I would say that this school is an incredible place to learn and grow. The academic program is rigorous, the teachers are passionate and the community is supportive. If you are looking for a school that will challenge you intellectually, nurture your faith and prepare you for the future, I highly recommend PCA!
