Time and time again, Wando Family Dentistry has been awarded Best Dental Practice in Mount Pleasant. Operating with no frills by using the golden rule in their approach to customers, they’ve been open for more than 10 years, aiding in the health and wellness of their community. They focus on preventative care and eradicating disease, but they are well versed in tackling restorative treatments.
Staff and patients will always be their cornerstone. Their facility offers safety and trust in what would usually be an environment they dread. Getting to know patients is a vital step in the process of each visit as it not only creates a sense of comfortability but also a trust in both staff and Dr. Cason Hund. The patient’s wants and needs are understood, and their open communication and conversational approach gives patients the knowledge of what to expect, ridding patients of their anxiety while also creating an honest approach to their goals.
Over the past few years, Wando Family Dentistry has been expanding. They’ve moved to a bigger facility, expanded their staff, and this year, they’ve introduced Dr. Matthew Mellin. He joined Wando Family Dentistry after shadowing Dr. Hund during his job search. The two hit it off, finding their approaches to both patients and their care to be similar.
Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Dr. Mellin first earned his bachelor of mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina. While he loved the precision and artistry of his first few engineering jobs, over time dentistry began to feel more alluring to him. Dentistry became the perfect combination of allowing his artistic abilities to shine, and with his attention to detail and the fact he could connect to the faces of the community more, it became a perfect fit. He went back to school, earning his doctor of dental medicine and immediately jumped into the job search.
Through this job hunt, Dr. Mellin fell into the opportunity of shadowing Dr. Hund, where their similar approaches to dentistry and their now bigger facility led to a permanent full-time position. As someone who grew up here, he aims to maintain the well-being of the people and the continued growth of the community. The challenges that come in the day to day are satisfying, and being able to directly help the people that come through the door gives Dr. Mellin that sense of fulfillment he was looking for, proving he’s right where he needs to be.
Of course, with all big changes there can be some anxiety, especially in regard to health. Dr. Hund guarantees that even with this bigger facility and another doctor joining the crew, care will not change. Their philosophy remains the same and just because there is a new doctor does not mean there are now two separate dental practices. Each person operates as a unit, treating customers as the friends and family that have trusted them for so long.
