Located just off Clements Ferry Road, Catrina’s Tacos & Tequila feels like walking into a fiesta. It’s vibrant, colorful, full of life — like someone bottled up the spirit of Día de los Muertos and poured it into the walls. Murals adorn the walls, with smiling Catrina dolls tucked into shelves, and those rich, festive touches that capture your attention. Somehow, it’s playful and elegant at the same time.
For owner Yesenia Leon, this restaurant is more than just a new venture — it’s personal. She opened Catrina’s with her late husband in her heart, honoring his memory through every dish, every detail and every moment shared around a table. Leon comes from a long line of restaurateurs, and you can feel that legacy in the way everything is done with care and passion.
The folks behind Catrina’s have a few popular restaurants around town, but this one’s special. They travel to Mexico every year — not just for ideas, but to really understand the food, the drinks and the culture, and you can taste it in the menu. Catrina’s make their corn tortillas in-house, have added some new traditional dishes and even managed to sneak sushi on the menu — and oddly, it fits.
Every margarita is made with 100% agave tequila, and their mezcal options go deeper than most spots around town. Families show up early, kids in tow, while the bar hums with regulars who just wanted “one drink” after work. It’s the kind of place that keeps bringing people back — not just for the food, but for the overall experience.
