Bruce is a 2-and-a-half year old terrier mix with a heart as big as his smile. He holds the title of Pet Helpers’ longest resident and has called the shelter home for more than 500 days. Bruce has a strong love for snuggles, tennis balls and everything in between, but what he wants more than anything is a home.
He is a beloved part of the pack at Pet Helpers and the volunteers and staff have helped him polish his manners like a true gentleman during his time there. Bruce is very intelligent and knows several commands including ‘sit,’ ‘stay,’ ‘down’ and ‘place.’ He’s highly food and toy motivated. Speaking of which, he currently holds the record for the biggest tennis ball stash in Pet Helpers history!
A true jack-of-all-trades, he would make a great running companion or would be just as happy as your new cuddle buddy during Netflix binge sessions. Bruce has also been a part of several doggie playgroups, and he might enjoy sharing a home with another pup. If you have another dog, Pet Helpers just asks that you bring them by for a meet-and-greet to be sure it’s a good match.
Bruce is loyal, loving and fun in all the right ways. He’s not the kind of dog that requires constant attention, but if you’re willing to provide it, he will eat it right up. Bruce adapts well to new environments, he’s crate-trained and although he handles alone time like a pro, he’s still happiest when he’s with his people.
Come meet Bruce in person at Pet Helpers, located at 1447 Folly Road, Charleston. The shelter is open daily from noon–5 p.m., no appointment needed. This charming boy has been waiting patiently, and maybe he’s been waiting for you!
