Palmetto Christian Academy is celebrating being voted the Best Private School for the 12th year in a row, as well as One of the Best Preschools, the Best School Principal, J.D. Zubia, One of the Best School Teachers, Angie Andrews and Best School Nurse, Ashli Rushing.
What sets PCA apart in each of these categories, according to Darla Rourk, director of marketing and communications, is that “Our school has a rich history of nurturing students not only academically but also spiritually, preparing them for success in college and beyond.”
Rourk added that PCA alumni, many of whom are currently excelling in college, attribute much of their success to the unique learning environment fostered by PCA’s dedicated educators. “From rigorous academic programs with a biblical worldview to a strong emphasis on character development, I believe our alumni’s testimonials illustrate how their experiences at our school have equipped them to face the challenges of higher education and life with confidence,” she said.
Two such outstanding alumni, Grayson Campbell and Sadie Ethridge, shared their experiences at Palmetto Christian Academy, highlighting how their time at the school shaped their academic readiness and spiritual resilience.
As a junior at the University of South Carolina, Campbell is involved with Shandon Baptist Church and enjoys serving the community. Of his time at PCA, he said, “It was truly amazing. Growing up in a Christ-centered learning environment shaped not only my education but also my character and faith. PCA didn’t just prepare me academically for college, it equipped me to face the challenges of living out my beliefs in a secular world. When I dealt with the temptations and pressures that college inevitably brings, I knew how to lean into my faith because of the foundation PCA helped build. I’m incredibly grateful for the mentors and teachers who poured into me throughout my years there. The example they set showed me what it truly means to walk in faith. Looking back, I don’t think I would have been nearly as prepared for college or life without the influence of PCA.”
Ethridge, who attends Anderson University, agreed. “I came to Palmetto Christian Academy my freshman year of high school, unaware of all that the Lord would teach me during my time there,” she said. “From an academic standpoint, PCA prepared me to think critically about various subjects, while also providing me with the skills necessary to study successfully and manage my time well. Not only am I academically thriving in college, I feel spiritually prepared for what I face. The Christian worldview is evident in each class, and the teachers’ intentionality ensures that every student is well-versed in what the Bible teaches. Because of this, I believe PCA was a big stepping stone to equip me in all aspects of life. While I never stop growing and learning, a significant part of my development was the skills I honed at PCA and the teachers who cultivated the right environment to allow me to flourish.”
