Best Golf Pro/Instructor Ty Gosnell runs the Players Golf Academy at RiverTowne Golf Club. Gosnell started with six junior golfers in his first 12-week semester. Today his academy has grown to include 85 juniors and 50 ladies per semester. Gosnell explained, “The program has expanded far beyond lessons – we’ve built a true athlete pipeline and a community that supports golfers across every stage of their journey, from beginners all the way to collegiate and professional levels.”
Gosnell served as the head girls golf coach at Oceanside Collegiate Academy from 2016-2018, leading the team to the school’s first state championship in 2017. Gosnell credits his early years as assistant coach at Bishop England for shaping his belief that player development and community development go hand-in-hand.
Gosnell continued, “A huge reason this works is the incredible staff around me. Our coaches bring elite playing and coaching experience that most programs simply don’t have access to.
In addition to coaching state championship winners, college athletes and tour players, I am fortunate to have won two state championships, being named an Operation 36 Top 50 Master Coach and being published in “How to Create a Junior Golfer: The Operation 36 Model.” I am especially proud of introducing the game to new players and keeping women engaged and confident on the course.”
He added, “It’s incredibly humbling to know that the community values not just the instruction, but the environment, culture and support network we’ve built at RiverTowne.”
