Most who live in the South Carolina Lowcountry embrace an active lifestyle. And with that can come foot problems. It’s a daily battle for many, and Coastal Podiatry specializes in everything from preventative maintenance to reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
Family owned and operated, Dr. Rahn Ravenell and his wife, Dr. Tamika Ravenell, offer the best possible care for each patient who walks through the door. The doctors and staff at Coastal Podiatry work together to ensure a positive experience.
“We are a family practice and take pride in getting to know each of our patients,” said Dr. Rahn Ravenell.
From Mount Pleasant to Moncks Corner, Coastal Podiatry has two offices to serve a broad expanse of patients. Covering ankle sprains, athlete’s foot, bunions, corns and calluses, diabetic foot problems, plantar fasciitis and more, Dr. Rahn Ravenell and his wife are here for you.
“We are patient focused. We try to spend as much time with every patient and answer all of their questions,” explained Dr. Ravenell. “We aim to have our patients leave more educated about their condition than when they came in.”
The typical patient is someone who has already searched his or her condition over the internet due to foot pain, ankle pain or a deformity.
Coastal Podiatry utilizes an ultrasound machine that allows a diagnosis of soft-tissue issues in the office during an examination. A patient no longer must travel elsewhere, wait for the results and return to the office again. The ultrasound machine allows the doctors a more thorough view and can help guide the needle into targeted tissues if an injection or other therapy is necessary.
Regenerative cell therapy is another tool Coastal Podiatry employs in-office. Regenerative medicine is an alternative to surgery, which is difficult to recover from for many people. The therapy is conducted in-office so patients don’t have to be off their feet or wear special shoes.
At times, acute injury or chronic conditions of the foot or ankle, such as flat feet, may keep people from living life to the fullest. Regenerative medicine doesn’t require surgery and relies on a body’s ability to heal itself.
Coastal Podiatry also has standing foot X-rays that are taken in-office so that they can be done quickly and efficiently for the patient. “Our staff can take the image right away. I can read the X-ray and talk directly to the patient at that moment,” explained Dr. Ravenell. “It makes diagnostic procedures faster and safer than ever before.”
Dr. Ravenell also treats pediatric patients. “I pride myself on seeing pediatric patients as not all podiatrists will do so.”
Further, Dr. Tamika Ravenell travels throughout the Lowcountry to nursing homes and hospitals to visit their geriatric patients.
Flat feet, sports injuries, in-grown toenails, orthotics or neuroma — let Coastal Podiatry help you at one of its locations on Wingo Way in Mount Pleasant or Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.
