For nearly 30 years, Southern Belles, led by owner Susie Molony, has been a cherished part of the Mount Pleasant community, blending classic children’s clothing with modern conveniences. Known for its traditional Southern charm, the shop has gracefully adapted to changing trends, offering a redesigned website, online ordering with in-store pickup and a Customer Rewards Program to ensure an exceptional shopping experience.
“Our goal has always been to stay on the consumer’s radar,” shared Molony. “While we remain rooted in tradition, we keep up with trends to meet our customers’ needs.”
Southern Belles is more than a shop — it’s a gathering place. “There’s nothing sweeter than hearing Southern women’s voices get higher when they see each other,” Molony laughed. “We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel welcomed and appreciated, whether it’s their first visit or their 50th.” Customers also rave about the complimentary gift wrapping, making Southern Belles the go-to spot for baby gifts or special outfits.
For fashionable tweens, Southern Belles features Suite J, a “shop within a shop” carrying stylish clothing in sizes 7-16. This curated section makes it easy for older girls to find trendy, age-appropriate looks.
Looking ahead, Southern Belles is preparing for its 30th anniversary in 2025. “I actually started this business out of my home 36 years ago, but it wasn’t until later that we opened our brick-and-mortar store,” Molony shared. Plans for the milestone celebration include collaborations with local businesses and organizations to thank the community for its continued support.
Winning Best Children’s Clothing of Mount Pleasant is another proud moment for Molony, who calls the honor humbling and deeply meaningful. Follow their new Instagram, @southernbelles_children, and experience a local treasure where tradition meets heart.
