Being named one of the Best Allergy Practices – and Dr. Bruce Ball being recognized as one of the Best Allergists – has meant a lot to everyone on the team at Charleston Allergy & Asthma.
Dr. Ball didn’t set out planning to work in allergy and immunology. It clicked for him back in his pediatric training, when he kept seeing how issues people often downplay – pollen seasons, asthma symptoms, chronic hives and food reactions like severe eczema, can quietly take over someone’s life. Curiosity carried him through a three-year fellowship in Denver. He eventually returned home and opened the practice that’s now been part of the community for nearly four decades.
There isn’t one standalone thing that makes the practice special. The combination of experience, novel treatment options and a staff that takes the time to explain things clearly is what sets them apart from other offices.
The team is not most proud of awards and accolades. They celebrate the everyday wins like a child who can finally sleep through the night, an adult who can breathe comfortably at work again or a family that now feels safe around food that used to cause them concern. Practice treatments like allergen immunotherapy, newer biologics, medications and oral food immunotherapy make moments like these a reality.
Doctors Andrew Davidson, Jeffrey Dietrich, Meredith Moore, Elizabeth Majeski and Lindsey Steadman and the front office and nursing team all come in with the same simple goal each day: to help people feel a little better than when they walked through the door.
