Best Marina
Tyler Tracy, Dockmaster
How did your business get started?
In January 1999, the city of Isle of Palms purchased the former Wild Dunes Yacht Harbor site — which encompasses 5.4 acres at the terminus of 41st Avenue — to retain water access for island residents and visitors. We were fortunate to be awarded the lease to manage the marina operation facilities and have been happy to serve the community ever since.
What is your most popular product or service?
Our most popular services are our boat rentals and fishing charters. Renting a boat is the perfect getaway for people who are not quite ready to buy a boat but want to enjoy a perfect day on the Charleston waters. Our fishing charters are guided by skilled captains with years of experience.
What is the most rewarding part of your business?
The most rewarding part about working for the Isle of Palms Marina is seeing all the smiling faces coming back from a long day of fishing or returning their boat rental after a beach day on Capers Island — just watching our community gather in such a beautiful area.
What are some challenges that you’ve overcome?
Everyone knows how tiresome construction can feel. Our entire establishment withstood months of long days, endless hiccups and battles, trying to create a better version of our business for the community. With construction wrapping up, we are so thankful and proud to share a new and improved version of our marina this summer.
