2023 Charleston Wounded Warrior Kiteboarding Retreat

MUSC Hollings Cup Regatta

Join us Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, for the 2nd annual MUSC Hollings Cup Regatta in Charleston Harbor. On-water enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to come together for a fun-filled day of competition and camaraderie. Not a sailor? No problem! You can still be a part of the action by coming aboard our spectator boat, The Charleston Princess, to watch the excitement up close and personal while enjoying bites and beverages. The regatta raises money for innovative and lifesaving cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.

Dog Day Afternoon

It’s your dog’s turn to cool off and enjoy a day at the waterpark at the end of the summer. The dog days of summer have never been so much fun! Two sessions will be held, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Space is limited for each session so please purchase tickets in advance.

9/11 Heroes Run Charleston

This brings the community together to honor our soldiers and first responders like no other race in the Lowcountry. The Travis Manion Foundation is the national organization that supports the fallen soldiers and their families. Our local EMS stations will benefit by offering CPR classes to almost 3,000 people, which is so vital in saving lives. Our Charleston Finest Fire Department on Daniel Island displays the American flag from their ladder trucks and many fire departments, police departments and first responders come and participate at this family event.

5K Partial Trail Run and Family Fun Walk

Carolina Children’s Charity hosts its 20th Annual care • give • run®, a USATF certified, beautiful scenic partial trail run! Run includes a variety of terrain: grass, paved trail, sand, boardwalk, dirt, roots and more. Fast-paced walkers can participate in the 5K. Family Fun Walk: uncertified and untimed. This is a leisure walk around the scenic park.

5th Annual Battle on the Deck

Where: Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum
Presented by Father to Father, Battle on the Deck is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament/festival that takes place on the Flight Deck of Patriots Point. This tournament features all ages. Brackets start from 10-under up to 70-up. Both genders. Put a team together and compete for the trophy and prizes from businesses around the community. If you don’t play basketball, you are welcome to come out and watch. We will have games and contests all benefiting Ballersworld Global Foundation. Let’s HOOP. It’s a Ballersworld.

National Night Out

Isle of Palms Police Department invites the community to spend time with the staff from Isle of Palms PD and our community partners at the IOP Rec Center. This is a fun evening filled with free food, events, displays and plenty of fun activities for all ages.
23rd Annual Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala

Where: The Reserve Golf Club at Pawleys Island
Sample over 65 wines from renowned vineyards around the world and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by the area’s best chefs. The evening will also include live music, delicious desserts, a silent auction full of wonderful items and a complimentary wine glass. Wines will also be available for purchase at prices well below retail during this special event.
Community Wellness Fair

Free cholesterol screenings and vaccines provided by East Cooper Medical Center and Delta Pharmacy. Over 20 Local Health Care Professionals and health-related vendors will be available to answer questions and allow participants to become familiar with the services that are available in the area.
Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child

In 1992, the Isle of Palms Connector finished being constructed and was opened for vehicle traffic. It was during that year that the City of IOP, the Mt. Pleasant Exchange Club and the Isle of Palms Exchange Club decided to host and sponsor the very first Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child.

Spyro Gyra

Fans of the band are familiar with the group’s rise to international prominence from humble beginnings in Buffalo, New York. That’s when a few area working musicians arranged for a weekly gig of playing less commercial music in a local club on everyone’s night off. Fast forward to the band having logged over 10,000 shows on six continents, having released 35 albums garnering platinum and gold records along the way and here they are, once again looking forward.
Willie Nelson and Friends

Born in central Texas, Willie Hugh Nelson grew up singing gospel music in the Baptist Church with his sister and long-time pianist, Bobbie. The two were raised by their grandparents, who encouraged them to play music, enrolling Willie in mail-order lessons at age 6. He is an American singer, songwriter, musician, political activist and actor. He was one of the main figures of the progressive and outlaw country subgenres that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound.

Luke Bryan has cited country artists George Strait, Alan Jackson, Alabama and Merle Haggard as influences on his career. He also cited hip hop bands Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. as a source of inspiration in an interview with The Huffington Post, noting, “I think there’s been somewhat of a change with our generation. You know, nobody grew up more countrier than me, but I mean, I had Beastie Boys playing on little boom boxes and Run D.M.C. and all forms of music, so through the years, I just think it’s all constantly blending together.
