The name reputedly comes from an unflattering Philadelphia mafia term, but if you ever bite into any one of its many flavors, Joey Bag a Donuts in Mount Pleasant will make you want to stuff yourself until you’re sleepin’ wit’ da fishes.
“We carry a variety of 35-38 different flavors at any given time,” said Stevie Twomey, owner since 2017. “We are now open every day but Monday, and these extra days have allowed us to have more growth and the chance to better serve our customers.”
The initial point of that service centers on the front display, where you’ll be hard-pressed to decide between chocolate frosted sprinkles, salted caramel, maple sweet cream, lemon, blueberry, M&M, monsters, zebras, The Goodfella or the simple, time-honored glazed.
“Between the two cases there’s always 30+ dozen donuts on display,” Twomey said. “We also have rotating flavors you can only get on occasion.”
So if you want to taste why Joey Bag a Donuts has been voted Best Of in Mount Pleasant four years running, the donuts are waiting.
“Our business thrives on serving our customers,” she said. “And we feel blessed to be part of this community.”
