Every Sunday until August 31, there is a new farmers market series taking place from 11am to 2pm at Willie’s Roadside Market in Mount Pleasant.
This event is all about bringing the community together where everyone can feel welcome. There will be over 20 local vendors taking part in this growing series—from fresh seafood, a variety of specialty foods, locally roasted coffee, small-batch goods, original local art, and fresh local produce that is grown right where this event takes place. Every booth tells a story, and every item directly supports local business neighbors in the area. There also will be tractor rides for families, live music, and more.
An example of how this event brings people together was experienced the first weekend. Event attendees witnessed a couple get engaged in the sunflower fields right behind Willie’s—and after saying ‘yes,” they wandered over to the farmers market, enjoyed live music, and shared lunch while people cheered and congratulated them. It was one of those moments that really captures what the goal of this event is all about—connection, celebration, and a space where people feel supported and uplifted just by being at the event.
This event is also a good example of how supporting local businesses also supports the local economy.
