The bell ting-a-lings as you walk into the magically aromatic shop called Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Pâtissier. Nestled in the village of I’On in Mount Pleasant, the boutique is dedicated to the creation of delectable chocolates and pastries. This is a love story.
Christophe Paume fell in love with chocolate as a child in Toulouse, France, and is a third-generation chocolatier. Educated at the CFA de Muret, he eventually achieved his brevet de maitrise – master in pastry. Love brought him to Charleston when he married Carly. Together, they make beautiful chocolate, handmade sweets and pastries from the finest preservative-free European chocolate, blended with the freshest ingredients.
A small sampling of the pastries includes coconut and chocolate macaroons, brioche and opera cake with butter cream frosting. To have a fresh almond croissant in the morning, get here early, call ahead or place your order online.
